Offset Printing Tips
- Talk to your printer early. Consulting with your printer in the planning stages lets you tap their experience and avoid problems.
- Use house stocks. Your printer will buy Number 1 and Number 2 house stocks in large quantities and will usually pass volume purchase discounts on to you.
- Proof early and often. Corrections and changes are less expensive when they’re done early in the production process.
- Check postal requirements. Make sure your direct mail piece meets all postal requirements before it’s designed.
- Get dummies. Ask for assembled dummies to help you visualize the printed piece. If you’re looking at a variety of paper options, ask for a dummy for each option so you can feel the difference.
